- LA JOYA DE SERENGUETI

Tras una insistente y esperanzadora búsqueda de varias incursiones en la sabana y la ayuda de un buen rastreador, finalmente, aparece ante mis ojos esta maravilla que bauticé como:  "la joya de serengeti", tan difícil de encontrar que me sentí enormemente afortunada al atisbar su silueta sobre un tronco en campo abierto observando y preparando una emboscada a un grupo de gacelas de Thompson. Durante la mas de una hora que estuve cerca de éste tímido ejemplar, no giró la cabeza ni una sola vez para ver quienes habían osado acercarse tanto a su espacio.

Por lo general, los leopardos, suelen evitar en lo posible la presencia del ser humano debido al temor que les infunde,estos animales enormemente tímidos, silenciosos y elegantes, no se dejan ver fácilmente.

Cazan preferentemente por la noche y acostumbran a pasar el día durmiendo entre la vegetación, en cuevas de otros animales o, a menudo, sobre la rama de un árbol al que trepan con agilidad a pesar del tamaño que poseen.
